Personalized Doggy Nutcrackers! Sooo Cute!

Fun and easy project to do during the holidays to add a little personal touch to your decorating.  Who wouldn’t want a Christmas nutcracker that looked just like their pup? This craft is super easy, but the tricky part is finding the nutcracker that has the same shape face as your dog.  Luckily my Aussie’s features resemble lots of breeds of dogs, but their markings are what make them uniquely Aussies. Target carries a basic yellow dog nutcracker with a long nose and big ears. These basic dog nutcrackers seem to be sold every year for around $10 – $15 each,  all you need is a little paint, a steady hand and the perfect pup model to create a unique gift or a special decoration for yourself. Below is how I made mine.  Hope you enjoy this little tutorial and make yourself something that holds a lot of sweet memories.
Levi, The perfect model! lol
Gather the paints ( I use acrylic paints from Michaels) you will need and several brushes. Paint the entire head with a base coat, then start personalizing it! It's really that simple. They come out so cute! I have made 3 of these and each is a treasured keepsake. Have fun, don't forget the sparkle in the eyes.

Paint the eye color before you do the details around the eyes. You can use a paint pen for small details if it is easier for you.

Bonus Post! Halloween Soap dispenser!

When I saw this soap dispenser at Ross I knew exactly what I was gonna do!  I had taken these pics of my Tessie a couple of years ago with the ghost costume, and even though it wasn’t much to paint, her nose and eyes are so unique, it was worth the trouble to paint it.  If you find something that isn’t quite right, remember you can always change it to suit you!
