Tricks for Treats Pumpkin Dog Cookies

Treat your pup this Halloween with these healthy dog biscuits, so good my husband ate some. lol

I am a dog person, maybe a borderline crazy dog lady! I love my pups and have been blessed with many fur babies over my  lifetime. Pictured above are our current two puppers. Oliver (The Blonde) and my blue eyed Tessie Jean. They bring me so much joy, I just have to bake for them too (after all they are family!).  These treats are an absolute HIT! They love them and beg for them as you can see. Made with a few simple ingredients they keep for weeks in an air tight jar. Being it is October, I thought I would whip up a batch for their trick or treat. Hope your pups enjoy them as much as mine do. Oh and yes my husband did taste one, he said, “Hey, these are pretty good, needs sugar though!” lol.

Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 3 Heaping Tablespoons Peanut Butter (Making sure to check ingredients in your peanut butter that is does not contain xylitol)
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
Mix all ingredients together with paddle attachment
Dough will be thick and dry
Dough ball will be dry and springy. Roll it out to about 1/4 " and start cutting out shapes.
Cut into shapes, my dogs are about 20lbs, so I use a small cookie cutter
"Hey Oliver, Mom loves us! She is making us a special treat! But we gotta dress up for Halloween for her. "
"Mom, Tessie said you were making something special for me?"
Arrange on parcchment lined cookie sheet
Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. Until hard and crunchy. Put in airtight container for up to two weeks.
