Christmas Painted Mirror
A family tradition Christmas is absolutely my favorite holiday! The weeks leading up to the celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ is full of decorating, cooking, shopping, planning and fond memories. Some families drive into the forest to cut down their own Christmas tree, and make an evening out of decorating the tree together , other families might go see The Nutcracker, or go caroling. Our family has a tradition that I don’t think I have seen anyone else do. It is the much anticipated giant painted mirror in my Mom’s living room. My parents built their home in the 1970’s, and it has…

Trash to Treasure Green Desk
What is one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, always rings true when you find a beautiful piece of furniture that is about to be discarded to the dumps, and you can bring it back to a beautiful and functional heirloom. I love antiques, but let’s face it, not every piece of antique furniture is easily transformed. Not the case with this little kidney bean shaped desk that was cosmetically in pretty rough shape. Crochet; A Craft From the Past
Hello everyone! Vintage Virgie’s daughter here 🙂 Brynna Finley While talking with my mom about her blog and all things vintage, it dawned on us, what is more vintage than a craft I’ve been doing since I was under the age of ten? A dying art form taught to me by my great-grandma Pulido: crochet! With a new skein of yarn and a minimum amount of patience, Grandma Pulido (Nanny, as I affectionately called her) and I went into her paisley living-room and she attempted to teach me the chain stitch (the foundation of crocheting.) We butted heads the entire time. A sassy little…

Strawberry Cathedral Trellis
Sitting on my deck, staring at a blank wall where a potted lemon tree once sat, I started to think. “What would look good there?” It looks so bare with the tree gone, Oh, a nice little bistro table and a couple of chairs. That would look good, and function well. So I go out and find a beautiful little marble top table, and spray paint a couple of old iron chairs I had in the back yard. Perfect! But wait a minute, something is missing? So I say to my daughter, ” would you like to go to Lowes and look for a little trellis and a few strawberry…

Festive 4th of July Mantel
A few times per year I like to change up the mantel, and the easiest way to do this is during the holidays. The large picture of my two kids when they were so little doesn’t really change, because I haven’t found something I like better. lol. They are a big reason I started decorating for every holiday and every season. I wanted to make it fun for them and now it is fun for me! It can be something simple or very extravagant. I have decorated this mantel for more events than I can count. Holidays, Birthdays, Graduations, Accomplishments.. Whatever the occasion, the center piece of the living room…
